Weekly Production Log - Week 10
What
have we contributed this week:
This week I have been working on my Copyright worksheet that I started last week. I am finding a lot of sources which provide information and we was told to use a minimum of 20 sources because with information from one source it will not help us as it is not reliable unless we use a few other sources to verify the information we have gathered throughout the process of researching answers for the work sheet we are doing.

How does this fit in with the production schedule of the project?
Currently I set to finish this work this week ready to be uploaded to Skydrive for Sunday this week which means I am on task and ready to finish this set piece of work.
Were there any problems that you faced?
There were no problems I faced this week because I just got on with the work and did not try to communicate with people in my class.
How did you overcome them?
There were no problems faced this week by myself as I was on track and not getting distracted by other members of the classroom.
Plans for the following week?
There are no plans for the following week as we have completed this Evaluation/Copyright Worksheet.

Weekly Production Log - Week 9
What
have we contributed this week:
This week I have been working on my Copyright worksheet which would analyse our Music Video via the Copyright Rules. This including OFCOM Regulations. We were given a minimum limit of 3 Pages to do our write up with which meant I had to concentrate and not get distracted by other members of the Classroom. The write Up helped us see how our Music Video complied with the Copyright Law and how it either meets the watershed or does not meet the watershed.

How does this fit in with the production schedule of the project?
There were no production schedule for this piece of work, but this is due on Sunday 30th of March in the following week which should be uploaded to our Blog Page to meet the required deadline.
Were there any problems that you faced?
There were no problems I faced this week because we had completed our Music Video and there was no filming or partner work to do throughout the week.
How did you overcome them?
There were no problems faced this week by myself because this was individual work and not to be completed with a partner.
Plans for the following week?
For next week I will be carrying on completing the work that was set this week and hopefully meeting the deadline for this piece of work.

Weekly Production Log - Week 8 (Deadline)
What
have we contributed this week:
This is our final week to get our editing done for our Music Video which then will be fully completed. We aim to get all the clips into the Program first and then edit by putting in effects and cutting the song to the beat. During our Lesson we had to ensure everything was tip top for our deadline day and we did. We completed the music video. We also spent after school hours to get the lip syncing right.

How does this fit in with the production schedule of the project?
Again we are on track with the production schedule and we are not falling behind due to any issues but we have been re-filming shots that we are not impressed with which may make us fall behind but we are confident that we will not. Me and Kaval are making very good progress as we are ensuring that we turn up to any place where we have to re-film shots and we specify times which we can attend to which makes it easier for us to film and get shots done at a faster rate.
Were there any problems that you faced?
From our point of view there were no problems during the deadline week. Everything went smooth and there were no frustrations between us.
How did you overcome them?
There were no problems faced this week and we was proud of what we had achieved from this piece of work.
Plans for the following week?
For next week we need to start the evaluation of our work which will show copyright rules and work including OFCOM.

Weekly Production Log - Week 7
What
have we contributed this week:
This week me and my partner Kaval have been editing the sequence of our Music Video which allowed us to keep track of time and be ahead of our schedule to edit. Throughout this week we got a rough idea of the whole sequence of our music video so we can show our teachers of how it could possibly look like after the final version was done. We received good feedback but we had to re-do a few shots which were not abiding the rule of thirds. This meant we had to go out and film the shots again after school. But as we have a draft of our work we did not need to worry about how the deadline as much as we would if it was to be done the following weeks.

Were there any problems that you faced?
There were minor problems such as frame fixing where we had to go out an re film certain shots in order for us to get the correct framing and not losing any marks. Other than that I think we have made very good progress.
How did you overcome them?
To overcome the scenes where the framing was not right we had to go out and re-film them in order to fix it. This did not take any time at all as the park was near to mine and Kaval’s house which meant that we can get the shots done in no time what so ever.
Plans for the following week?
For next week we plan in getting the whole music video prepared for finalisation for our deadline during the course of that week. Tuesday we will have a solid overview of the Music Video and Thursday during our deadline we will have a finished Music Video.

Weekly Production Log - Week 6
What
have we contributed this week:
As we have got back from the Half Term Holidays we are on track and we expect to finish by the deadline with is in 2 weeks’ time. It is good to see that as a team I and Kaval are helping each other and looking over the shots we have done in order to improve them and how they look on the computer. We have completed the filming this week and we are almost in progression to the editing stage where I will be editing the music video to how I want it to look as It was my original idea. In this time we had after finishing all the shots we have been looking over other music videos to see what we can do during our editing stage and how we can implement some professionalism into the video itself.
How does this fit in with the production schedule of the project?
We are on track and we have not fell behind on any of the work so far so this means we are progressing onto finishing our music video itself and hopefully on the way to meet the deadline itself. We aimed to get most filming done last week and we have accomplished that which means we do not need to stress out because we have finished literally all of the filming itself.
Were there any problems that you faced?
There were a few problems that we faced which one of them was the scenes that we had filmed at the back of the park. The park scenes looked very professional but there was not movements what so ever which meant that the shots where still and they were boring. This meant we had to go and re-film it.
How did you overcome them?
To overcome the park scene situation we had to re-film it again with more movement which would actually help our music video flow and cut to the beat better. We also did the same shots it different angles and movement in order for us to get a mixture of angles and close-ups.

Also I will allow Kaval to try some editing out as well which lets him have a chance in contributing in our editing process for the Music Video itself.

Weekly Production Log - Week 5 (Half Term)
What have we contributed this week:
This was the half term week where we had planned to get most of the filming done which would allow us to have less stress over the week we had left to film. This week we had to contact all the cast and crew members to figure out all the days they could film bearing in mind that others' had other groups as priority. This ensured that we could be most efficient on when we film and what we get filmed. For this week our target was to get the hardest shots done which was travelling to London and getting our shots done. We went to Bond Street to get our shots done which was very hard. We ensured as long as we get the hardest parts done we would be fine in filming the other shots for the music video.
How does this fit in with the production schedule of the project?
It allows us to get the hardest shots done and it would ensure that we will not fall behind while filming shots at school. We specified what day we would film which meant we can be efficient on when we are actually filming and this would allow us to manage our time and be consistent on what we are filming
Were there any problems that you faced?
The problems we faced was that some of our cast members could not come to film due to them being busy so this meant we may be in risk of falling behind on our filming schedule.
How did you overcome them?
I was strict with the members of our crew because if this was a major problem we would fall behind on our production schedule and we would get into trouble when filming on our last week.
Plans for the following week?
We plan to get atleast 95% of the filming done which will allow us to get feedback so we can improve certain shots.

Job Roles & Resposibilities
I have chosen my Cast to be Kaval, Taylor and Myself because we all have abilities that would benefit us throughout the whole of the creation of the Music Video.
Kaval:
As a friend and as a media student Kaval has very good camera skills which allows us to prefect the shots and replicate the exact way we intended to create the shots. By having a good camera man we can ensure that the shots are perfected and that the music video looks as professional as possible. Also Kaval as an actor is not camera shy and can do anything that he is told. He is a very responsible meber overall and can be trusted.
Taylor:
She is going to be the actress for the Music Video. I have chosen her because she is not camera shy and she is a very close friend and she can be trusted to do acting without losing character or fooling around. Also she can act exactly as she is told which can help me remove any anomalies from when we are filming. This meaning she does not make many mistakes as she knows what she is doing.
Myself (Thajeethan)
I have nominated myself as the director and Editor because I have previous expereinces of this because I have taken media as a subject in the past and achieved very good results. Also I do youtube videios where editing comes into play whi ch allows me to have an advantage over other. Also as I own an iMac i can also practise on Final Cut Pro which is a very big help for when editing our Media video and when I have to put the clips together to cut to the beats and flow better. Also as the director I have responsiblities to hold aswell because if I am not concentrating and I don't have the right mind set I will not be able to direct my music video as well as I could.

Weekly Production Log - Week 4
What have we contributed this week:
Throughout the course of this week we had ensured that we finished all the paper work in order for us to proceed into the filming stage. On February 10th we managed to complete all our paperwork for the project we are doing. We was very pleased and pretty much excited about filming a full music video as a project. We was very eager to start filming and we had to wait until Wednesday for the teacher to go through the paperwork with us.
How does this fit in with the production schedule of the project?
It allows us to proceed into the stage of filming and it helps us because we have had permission to film and we had all the cast sign a contract to be in the music video and not "jump of the boat" near the time we actually start to film. Also we was 1 whole day late for starting the filming when we figured out we was missing a piece of paperwork. This meant we had to re-do that one specific paperwork again.
Were there any problems that you faced?
The problems we faced was that we lost on piece of paperwork which meant that we was behind on the filming by one day. We had lost the location reccies piece of work and we had to redo it. This meant we lost valuable time filming during school hours.
How did you overcome them?
To overcome the lost piece of work we had to re-do that piece of work using a backed up version which had most of the work we did which was lucky but we still had a bit of work to do. To overcome the filming issue where we was 1 day behind we filmed our first few shots after school in order for us to catch up with the time we actually missed.
Plans for the following week?
We plan to film most of the hard shots during the course of next week as it is half term. This is the only chane we would have to ensure that we get most of the filming done as most of us are free and we have the whole day to ourselves to film.

Permission for Filming
As we are filming through various places for our Media Music Video we will need some places to allow us permission to film. In particular the train station. Here we had researched that it would cost upto £500 per week to film at a train station but we have decided that we would shorten the time take to film on a train to avoid privacy concern.
Also another place we would be filming is London Bond Street. There would be a scene where the actress walks into the Louis Vuitton Store. This meant we had to ask permission from Louis Vuitton in order to film in their premises. I had emailed them regarding this and have not got a reply back. This maybe because it takes up to 4 days for us to receive an E-Mail back due to the high volumes of E-Mails they receive.

Also public places do not require permission but as told it had to be mentioned here in the blog post. I have concluded that there will be public places used such as Brookside Park, the Chadwell Heath Area in common and other places such as Romford. Also we have asked our actress for permission to use her house and she has said yes and allowed us to film which is excellent. Also we will be filming at our cameraman's house which he has also said yes to which is very good news and which will now allow us to proceed into actually creating the music video itself.

Weekly Production Log - Week 3
What have we contributed this week:
Throughout this week me and my partner Kaval have been finishing up the script in order for us to start filming. We ended up getting just over 90 shots which is average for a music video. After receiving some important feedback we managed to pull another 16 shots which allowed us to proceed into the 100's which was very good and which would allow us to keep the flow of the music video well and up beat. Looking through our Music Video script we came a conclusion to re - do the chorus so there is performance along with the narrative. We intended to have 50:50 ratio with the mixture of Performance and Narrative. As my song is based on a guy's girlfriend we went for the relationship breaking up narrative which would be perfect for our music video.
How does this fit in with the production schedule of the project?
Without the shooting script pretty much we cannot do anything related to filming at this stage. By planning ahead we enabled ourselves to get a mini schedule of when we can film each scene depending on the time, weather and place. Also we had to talk to other members of the group where they would be told when they should come or when they could actually come.
Were there any problems that you faced?
The problems that we faced during the course of the week was fixing up the shooting script. With the feedback we actually received we intended that it was going to be very confusing changing around the shots to make it feel much better and flow better. We feared that it would mess up the whole script and we would have to start all over again.
How did you overcome them?
To overcome the script problem me and kaval went home after school and spent a good hour or two re considering our initial idea for the script. We decided to keep the structure of the music video but obviously we had to change the shot types and how the actual music video would turn out to be.

Weekly Production Log - Week 2
Throughout this week I have been working on my Script for the Music video I will be creating in the near future. So far everything is going well and I have almost finished my Script. We have One more verse and Chorus to go. To improve our music video we looked on Youtube for videos that could help us with our concept of our Music Video
We viewed some videos where we can get ideas for our music video to make it look more professional. The most important thing we actually came across was that all music videos' shots where moving which meant that we has to reduce the amount of the still shots we had. When we create the music video itself hopefully I can remove more of the still shots to allow the music video to flow.
We did not encounter any problems through this week as all the work was getting completed and no one in the group was falling behind. This meant when we came into every lesson we got on with our work and go through most of the shot list for my music video. Working as a group could have been more efficient because both of us sometimes got easily distracted by other members within the classroom. To prevent this we moved away from people we'd get distracted from and concentrated on our work.

Weekly Production Log - Week 1
This production Log is written up to show what I have done within
the week in my media lessons. It shows how I have worked well with my partner
and how I have contributed in each lesson throughout the whole of the week.
Throughout this week we had to plan our music video itself. Before
all of this was done we had to create a Group Rationale which answered a few
questions on why we chose the partners we had chosen. I had to do this solo
because my partner was absent. This meant I had to answer all the questions by
myself and say both of our ideas together. Also unlike others I had to plan out
what I was going to say because others can just answer the question straight
away but I had to answer all the questions which was hard because I had say
everything that popped into my mind without it being boring or typical. (Try
and make it sound more unique).
The problems i faced this week were that I had to do all the work
due to my partner being absent. This meant I had to put in 200% of the work and
get them completed by myself without letting myself fall behind. The group Rationale for instance was done solo due to the group member being absent. I overcame
these problems by concentrating more and not getting distracted by other people
in the class. Also I did this so I do not fall behind on my Media work leaving
me a lot of work to do.
For the following week I will be going over the planned choruses/verses
sheet with my partner to see if I could change anything as I did the sheet by
myself. As I have worked with him before he’ll have good ideas to portray in
the music video and he can contribute some creativity into the video planning itself
so we can make it more unique and not boring to watch.

Group Rationale
Pitch Reflection
If I was going to do my Pitch again I would include a more Description on what I was saying. For example I did not actually refer to the Good Win theory or Mention his name in the presentation itself. I did include technical terms but it came to a point where not enough technical terms where used for the presentation to be fluent and engaging. Also for the presentation itself I could have used more reference's to the Narrative side of Music Videos; Meaning I could have used videos that related to my ideas so I could show the audience a feel of what my music video would look like.
The strengths I had was that I was not often looking at the presentation on the board and I had eye contact with people around the room. The overall response to the Music Video pitch was good because I was not making the typical rap video with cliched conventions such as Voyeurism, Gold Chains, Expensive Cars, Women, expensive clothing ect, I went with a concept of a guy becoming a rapper who is in a relationship. The twist here was that the relationship was not going really well due to the guy not looking out for his girlfriend. Also I wanted to subvert the genre by using Narrative because most rap videos do not have narrative. The actual music video will actually be based on the girl's point of view because she is the one that is going through the hard times. The music video pretty much has two story's one from the rapper's POV & the other from the girlfriend's POV.
The improvements that the audience gave me was that I could work on the location abit. In my presentation I mentioned that parts would be set in london but the audience responded with why a rapper would be in London. I could not come up with an answer but I did this because London is a place that is major and it has luxurious parts just the same as New York.
To improve on my music video I would implement what the audience said by using places that are actually suitable for the cast to go to. For example I could use ally ways to express the Girl's feelings and use High Angle shots to show that the girl is looked down upon ect. All these mini changes can lead to a good music video if it is well planned and expressed.
