Lyrics Analysis:

Age : 17-25
Target Audience - Mainly Males and some females
Interests : Rap, Women, Money
Location : New York
Ethnicity : Mainly aimed at Black People // Other ethnicities can listen to his music as it is rap.

Analysing the Lyrics:
Here Rico is talking about a woman he is probably going out with. He is talking about how she helps him and how she is not the stereotypical type of woman who cannot stick up for themselves. (Not Sexist) - He tells us how she is "Ready for War" meaning anything that gets in her way she is ready to get rid off it by being "Ready". He has shown us the relationship of him and his girlfriend by saying this line "we one person homie, never separated"; this indicates that he is always there for her and vice versa. The tune of lyrics also matches the mood of the song making it flow better. As Rico is an upcoming rapping he talks about how he moves from places to places to try to make his name become bigger and how he is trying to live the "rapper life" by doing drugs, having the perfect women & the best car. Infact reading through these lyrics show that the rap song is near stereotypical but not too much of it. This again shows that the song is near professional standards because it has all the conventions of a rap song: this being Drugs, Money, Women, Cars ect.

Analysing the Music:
Here Rico starts of with the Chorus to tell his audience that the chorus is present so they can get hang of the tune. This is stereotypical because most Rap music start with the Chorus at the beginning of the whole song. The whole song is somewhat stereotypical to the rapping genre. It always has words that curse and often relate to women as "sexual objects" but here it is not referenced as much as we see in rap nowadays. The song also refers to drug use which is common in rap songs because it shows that they have money and they live in a free world so they could do whatever they want because they are rich and free. This element had been implemented into this track. Hearing the beat it is very slow and classic type rap music. We don't hear this type of rap any more because in 21st Century they have become more stereotypical and often the same but here Rico has made it a little different to "typical" rap songs and gone to the other direction of not using bass heavy beats.

Analysing the Tempo:
The song is slow for a rap song but has the elements that make it a rap song. The song is relaxing and it makes it feel like the mind is free from stress. This is where we come in terms of "classic" rap songs. Songs are highly related to someone like Snoop Dogg who has tunes which seem like the 90s type rap where this song has implemented that. The song relates to many rappers that have been rapping for quite a while now as the tune is not bass heavy like 21st Century Rap and more subtle like. The tempo of the song is pretty slow for a rap song but as mentioned above this was done due to the nature of the era of the rap song: meaning the song was slow due to the time of rap (eg 90s). As the Tempo of the song is slow I reckon that the whoel music video will be slow because I was thinking of cutting to the beat so our shots may have to be slowed down or longer than the average shot. Working with a slower tempo is easier as they tell the story more better but some people can get easily bored which I do not want to happen during the production of our music video.

How would you use it in a Music Video:
First of all I would get permission to use some clips for the first line of the song by embedding a short clip of New York City to make the meaning of the song quite literal. The songs seems as if it was to be in a luxurious place which can be in a main city or some where where "classiness" is present. If this was to be set in America the main place we would go is to the beach, but as it will be set in London we need to alter the lyrics in order for it to match the video. We could also subvert the video to not match the lyrics but that would not look to good at all. Also where it says "Frequent Shopping sprees" we can enter an expensive store such as Louis Vuitton to state that we are on a shopping spree. I will base it all in London as it is close to me and it has all the elements we can embed in our music video. The song often refers to cars drugs and money. I was thinking in this video I could find a supercar dealer and get a shot where I was shaking the dealers hand as "if" I had bought a bentley or something near to that which would show that I am corresponding with the lyric. I'm also going to make the Music Video itself have a storyline to it where the couple's relationship is not going in the right direction because the rapper is trying to become big and is not spending time with his girlfriend which ends in a breakup of their relationship. Often most music videos are about love but I wanted to be pretty unique and subvert that idea which will make it stand out from the others.

Creating my artist's identity

Artist Bio:
Real Name - Ryan David
Artist Name - Rico Slick
Date of Birth : June 30th 1991
Birthplace : New York

Unsigned.com Link for artist - Rico Slick

Why I chose this artist:
I had chosen this artist because he does rap. This is why I have chosen him. This artist raps like as if he was to be a professional rapper. He shows that as an unsigned artist he can become a professional rapper and show to the world that it is easier if you put the time and effort into making music in order to get into the music industry.

Samples of Clothing my Artist would wear:
To portray the rap genre I am going to make him wear expensive clothing to stereotype the genre. He will have baggy (Not too Baggy) Jeans this being any designer brand. To match the jeans I will also be using designer branded T-Shirts this being Ralph Lauren to Versace; this is because in a rap video people who are rappers tend to wear clothing that is custom made by a designer company such as Versace.  For accessories I have included a few chains that are diamond encrusted this being black or clear diamonds. I am trying to relate my artist to a mainstream artist such as Tyga, Lil Wayne , Ace Hood ect. Another accessory would be shades. This would match the stereotype of being a rapper because most of them do wear shades. The shoes my rapper will be wearing could be Jordan's or even a designer brand such as Gucci/LV. For the last part of a costume for my rapper will be wearing a snapback on his head to this will portray the Rap Genre very appropriately.

Sample Typography my Artist would use:

This is the Typography my Artist would use because his genre of music is rap. The rap genre would often relate to graffiti or a unique font that would brand the actual artist himself. I have also shown a Wiz Khalifa font text because it looks original and it would match the actual style of the artist himself. Also I have done minimalist text as well for the artist to make him look clean and professional.

Mise-em-scene for my Artist:
I would use places that relate to rapping which could be a club where everyone is dancing and the rapper is sitting down with the girls - A place which is very famous such as London or New York City. Another place can be the hotel room in an expensive hotel where the artist is rapping. The location could be anywhere because rap can be in famous places or it could be in rundown areas.
The colours of my artist:
I would often relate the colour gold to rapping because it is common that the colour they wear golden chains or even black diamonds. The rapper that I have chosen does pure rap there is not hybrid between genres here. The gold relates to the artist being rich and living a great lifestyle. Also as he is a rapper the colours are mostly consistent and there are not changed within the video. The colours are mostly rich and glamorous.

Imagery that evokes my Mind:
When listening to my artist's song as it is slow it is not the regulary stereotype that comes into mind, there is more than just the girls and cars that appear in mind but the song is slow and soothing. A lot of things pop into mind such as :

These are some of the images that pop into mind because he looks like if he was to be an original rapper back when rapping was as good as Tupac; The lowridier cars, the beach, the women ect. Nowadays rap is mostly about money and women which is all cliched. My artist has that sense of old rappers who are very famous still today.
